Healthy Grilling Tips

We have always been informed that grilling is one of the healthiest ways to cook, on the other hand scientist are now implying that it can be an unhealthy cooking technique. For all of us who love to grill and eat grilled food I will suggest six ways of grilling healthy.

Healthy Grilling Tips
  • Grill fruits and vegetables- We all need to eat more fruits and vegetables and this is a great way to get antioxidants rich fruits and vegetables in.
  • Grill Lean- When you're grilling meat start with lean cuts trimmed meats and limit the amount of fat that drips on the coals
  • Marinate - Infusing flavor into meats, fruits, and vegetables by soaking them in a tasty marinade. Some favorite marinade ingredients include wines, vinegar, lemon or lime juice, low-sodium soy sauce, honey, garlic, onions, herbs, and spices.
  • Decrease Grilling Portion - smaller portions of meat, poultry, and fish so they cook faster and spend less time on the grill. Another trick is to precook the meat, fish, and poultry.
  • Turn meat often-  Turn meat without piercing it (which releases juices that drip onto the coals), use tongs or spatulas
  • Skewers- A  way to cut down on grilling time is to thread small pieces of meat or fish on a skewer.
